Members of NBRIA are all those mandated by the Bishops of the dioceses of England and Wales to promote and support religious education, catechesis and Christian formation in their schools and parishes. Currently there are over 80 individual advisers working across the dioceses as well as associate members belonging to various linked organisations. The NBRIA Executive is representative of the ecclesiastical provinces and of the professional committees, which reflect the major areas of work – Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Special Needs Support, Adult Religious Formation, School Inspection.

Contributions to RE

As well as supporting RE in Roman Catholic schools and parishes, NBRIA has also issued several publications relating to RE, including:

  • ‘Religious Education Curriculum Directory, designed for Catholic schools and colleges to provide guidance for the RE classroom curriculum in Catholic schools
  • ‘Levels of Attainment in Religious Education in Catholic Schools’
  • ‘Many Yet One’ – Draft Curriculum Guidance for RE, Catechesis & Evangelisation for those with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, which gives helpful and practical advice, and encourages reflection around the issue of working with children, young people and adults with LDD.
