We are excited at the launch of this new resource for teachers and schools, to promote the value of RE in building a strong base for pupils’ future careers. Ideal for school GCSE options events, careers fairs, and for use in the classroom.
At a time when businesses increasingly value cultural literacy, ethical reasoning, communication, and emotional intelligence, RE offers a unique space in the school curriculum where these attributes are developed. RE students learn how to engage with difference, think critically, and approach complex moral issues—skills that are vital across sectors.
Writing in Management Today, a leading publication for business leaders, Lord Bilimoria wrote:
“Religious Education is a rare opportunity in schools where young people give their response to some of life’s biggest questions, develop the ability to build an argument, and demonstrate empathy and an understanding of someone else’s argument, whilst also providing a constructive critique of that point of view”
The RE4Work resource, launched with the support of figures such as Lord Karan Bilimoria and in collaboration with voices from the Bank of England, UCL, the Peter Jones Foundation and others, provides schools with practical tools to help students connect their learning in RE to the demands of the modern workforce. It also features the perspectives of employers who endorse the subject’s relevance.
