In February, new Young Ambassadors from Archbishop Sentamu Academy began their collaboration with YAs from Venerable Bede school in Sunderland. The teams got in touch via Facetime on the school computers and have been working collaboratively since, in particular on a ‘Make it Grow’ campaign based on the Parable of the Talents.
Young Ambassadors from Archbishop Sentamu Academy also gave presentations to groups at the NASACRE conference in Westminster, and the York Diocese Annual Education Conference, where they discussed the value of RE, explained how they had been playing ‘The Commitment Game’ with some year 7 students, and talked about interviews they had conducted with their chaplain. Feedback from the National Association of SACREs conference commented on how confidently and passionately they had spoken about their love for the subject and the projects they had planned.
The team from Archbishop Sentamu Academy have become more and more interested in RE throughout the term, spurred on by becoming Young Ambassadors, and they will be joining a SACRE meeting soon to tell the SACRE about their activities, and their plans for promoting RE in the future.
