The Young Ambassadors for RE scheme provides students aged 11 – 18 with the opportunity to champion RE. They do this by sharing their positive experiences of religious education in their schools.
Young Ambassadors work in their own schools, local communities and nationally to help people understand how varied, exciting, academically challenging and relevant religious education is. This project also gives young people the chance to develop leadership, presentation and teamwork skills.
We are proud that our YAs have taken part in so many original, high profile and meaningful projects in recent years. Here are just some of the events they have taken part in:
- Debating at Westminster;
- Being interviewed for local and national news programmes;
- Teaching in local primary schools;
- Presenting at the Inter Faith Network’s annual conference;
- Hosting MPs at their school;
- Leading assemblies and talks for both staff and students.
This is a highly valued, respected status and so the RE Council asks schools who would like to be involved to submit an assignment as an application, answering the question What does it mean to be a Young Ambassador for RE? This gives students the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and commitment necessary to be involved. If you think your students could contribute to the project please contact us at youngambassadors@religiouseducationcouncil.org.uk
